Asaltamontes, a group born under the leadership of Aroa Sío and Arancha Pérez de Lis, promotes this discipline with meetups that help combat situations of insecurity

are around eighty women. The passion for athletics and nature cements them. They share WhatsApp group and Instagram account. This Sunday, open to recruitment, they will meet again under the leadership of Aroa Síothe prestigious mountain runner, and Arancha Perez de Lis. They have formed a group called Grasshopper Female. The company encourages and protects them. Encourage effort and clear the danger of lonely roads. It’s the strength of the hive.

All part of Sío. This woman from Vigo discovered the trail when she quit smoking. A healthier and more powerful addiction. During the last five years she has become one of the best specialists in Spain. She wants others to enjoy that same epiphany. The demands of her elite have never led her away from her apostolic mission. On November 6, through her social networks, she quoted other women in the church of coruxo. It is the exact point where his own life was turned upside down, between the last cigarette and the first dawn. Thirty appeared. With them he ran off to the forest park of Saians. An internal journey for many of them as well.

Arancha Pérez de Lis was included in that original excursion. Dietitian, with a nutrition consultation, she was aware of a common female problem: “There is a lack of a food base, but at a sports level we are light years away. In women it costs a lot. You kind of abandon yourself when you have children and when menopause arrives you already think the world is ending. We should do a lot more things enjoy life and our body”.

Arancha and others are already tanned in running. Others, not so much. “There were all levels & rdquor;, remember. The initiative spread by philosophy and chemistry. Aroa had brought biscuits and fruit. In the talks, the desire to stabilize the group soon arose. Each began to conceive initiatives; communication, possible sponsorships… “We all contribute a little so that this goes forward and we continue to grow& rdquor ;.

The thirty women created a WhatsApp group, enrolling other acquaintances. That weekend in November had coincided with the A Grob TrailThere is some popular race. So perhaps it was not surprising that at the next meeting, to gallop around fuck it, more than 75 women already appeared. “It came out super well & rdquor ;, celebrates Arancha. “We decided to create a profile on Instagram so that this does not stay here, that it is done on other sites & rdquor ;. That second event, with Aroa Sío as the engine, was already organized in Vigo as well as in Ibiza and Bilbao with two other elite mountain runners, Fatima Blazquez and leire martinez.

“In the group as a result of this, more movement began to be generated,” explains Arancha. “I started offering my training sessions & rdquor ;.

–Who’s up for 15 kms up the mountain? I need a hook, someone to pull me –she might have written.

“Today, a quieter outing,” he would ask just in case.

Asaltamontes, the name chosen by Aroa Sío from among those conceived in an ideas contest, has been working like this between the smallest meetings of the associates and that great meeting that depends to a large extent on Sío’s training plans. The third was held at the time of the San Silvestre.

In substance, Asaltamontes provides its members with a specific utility social network. “It is very difficult to practice the trail & rdquor ;, says Arancha. “Going out alone to run imposes a bit. Going out alone and through the mountains, even more so. This is a way to encourage women to get to know each other, share training sessions and go out together.” It is not a theoretical reasoning. “You talk to the women and all have had situations of insecurity: one who follows you, another who makes a stupid joke that is not funny… Going with more women allows you to feel more secure, accompanied, calm…& rdquor;.

The group has not stopped exploring new paths in these few months of existence. have adopted the app United Woman, “dedicated to plans for women, not only for athletics, but for other activities such as going to the movies. This is in its infancy, still starting”. In addition, they have created a club through the platform Strava: “Whoever signs up enters a league and every month a prize will be given thanks to Aroa’s sponsors. It is a way to motivate competitiveness and improvement, always with affordable tests & rdquor ;. There are 85 recorded so far.

The meetings will continue to be the great party of Asaltamontes. They have planned one on July 2 and another at the beginning of November, both simultaneously with similar meetings in Cantabria and Gran Canaria “so that it has more repercussions & rdquor ;. The next one, however, is imminent, due to the Women’s Day which is celebrated today. It is moved to Sunday due to availability: “It will be easier for people to come.”

That morning (9.30 a.m.), in monteferro and for free, Aroa Sío will initially teach proprioception and technique classes. There will be eccentric exercises, ankle strengthening and balance, as well as trail technique. She will instruct novices on body management to prevent or minimize falls if they do occur. Later there will be a route through that Nigranense scenario “to gain ease & rdquor;, explains Arancha, who hopes that “in the process more relationships between women will be established, that they will also remain & rdquor;.

Epic in everyday life

Sharing stories, their own or others, is another way of supporting each other that Asaltamontes practice. They are cases of improvement that inspire from everyday life; not adventures through exotic landscapes at the hellish pace of the elite, but the daily battles that are lost and won. It is that other epic, more of wheezing than of harangues, with which life is built. –What do you want us to tell through the networks? Arancha suggested. –Real stories of women –they answered. “We have started with the ‘Grasshopper of the Week’ section,” explains the dietitian. “We explained how a woman started on the trail, her races, her photos… she serves as motivation for us & rdquor ;. “I have been getting in touch with veterans, who started at 50 years old and are already going to races like the Transcanaria & rdquor ;, she details. There are common experiences, biologically unavoidable, which you want to strip of any tremendousness. “For having menopause, life does not end. We must continue practicing sports, signing up for races and enjoying the mountains. Age doesn’t matter.” Any latitude on the planet offers the right examples, like that 95-year-old American woman who has just completed a 5-kilometer trail ride. “What a pass! & Rdquor ;, she exclaims Arancha, although she does not need to look that far away. She thinks of Anuska Ramos from Ourense. With thyroid pathologies that made her tired, her husband advised her to join the gym. She was 51 years old. A few months later, coming home from a workout, she decided to run. She completed 5 kilometers. She “she was getting in and aiming for careers. She managed to finish her first 10K in 50 minutes. She began three years ago to meet in the bush. Now she and others have created a club, ‘A Cabra tira ó monte’. There are more than thirty, twenty of them federated. Another would have stayed at home, to cover herself with the blanket. Anuska changed on her own initiative. It is what we want to promote & rdquor ;, highlights Arancha.
