A spectator record for the women’s football match was set in Barcelona, Spain, on Friday, with 91,648 pairs watching the Champions League playoffs between FC Barcelona and the German VfL Wolfsburg.
Barcelona improved their own previous record. In March, 91,553 people arrived at the club’s home stadium, Camp Nou, to watch a match against Real Madrid. Before that, the women’s football spectator record was from 1999, when 90,185 people watched the U.S.-China World Cup final at the Rose Bowl Stadium in California.
In Friday’s semi-final match, Barcelona left Wolfsburg with no return. Barca scored four goals in the first half. The final numbers were 5-1 for the home team.
The teams will face in the second semi-final of the semi-finals in Germany on Saturday, April 30th.
