On Wednesday evening (13.04.22) a committee of the world association Fis voted unanimously to allow women to jump off the largest facilities in the world.
A final decision should be made in May. According to plan, the first women’s ski flying could then rise in March 2023 in Vikersund, Norway. “We all agreed to open the door for women. There are still concerns, but the time has come,” the committee said in a statement.
15 women, at least 18 years old
At the premiere, which could also be the end of the season, 15 women could jump. The minimum age should be 18 years. The German world-class jumper Katharina Althaus and her colleagues have been fighting for years to be allowed to compete on the flying hills.
So far, this has been reserved for male colleagues. In addition to Vikersund, there are also facilities in Oberstdorf, Planica and Bad Mitterndorf.
