Now things are getting serious: On Friday evening, the German national team around captain Alexandra Popp will fight for a ticket to the Olympic Games in Paris. With a win against France, national coach Horst Hrubesch’s team would also move into the final of the Nations League.

Hrubesch is convinced of his team and said at a press conference beforehand: “I’m not going there to take part. I want to control the game and win.” He was looking forward to the France draw. Now the team is challenged against third place in the FIFA world rankings.

Germany 0:1 France

45th minute – And almost immediately it’s 2-0! Once again Diani breaks through on the left side of the German defense. The cross goes to Bacha. But her shot is just blocked.

41st minute – There’s the goal for France! The subsequent free kick sails long to the second post, where Schüller clears the ball with his head. Diani is free in the backcourt and slams the ball flat into the right side of the goal.

40th minute – The first yellow card of the game goes to Germany. Karchaoui runs around Huth, who then only knows how to help herself with a tactical foul. The yellow card is the logical consequence.

39th minute – Almost a chance for Germany. Schüller is sent steeply and runs towards the goal. But the French still have a foot in the middle.

37th minute – And immediately Le Sommer brings the ball dangerously into the middle again from the outside. But Frohms is there and punches the ball out of the danger area.

36th minute – Now there is also a Frenchwoman. Le Sommer bounces off Oberdorf in midfield and remains lying. However, she too can continue after a short treatment.

34th minute – Injury interruption: After a cross, Hegerin gets the fist of France goalkeeper Peyraud-Magning in the face and stays in love for longer. She is now being treated next to the gate. But it looks like she can move on straight away.

32nd minute – Good chance for Germany! After a good combination, Linder runs freely towards the goal on the left, but is blocked by Diani at the last moment. It’s a shame for the Germans: there isn’t even a corner.

29th minute – If anything goes offensively, it’s via Bühl. She dribbles again on the left, shakes off de Almeida and shoots – but clearly over the goal.

28th minute – Germany is now making a noticeable effort to close the left defensive side and immediately moves over. So far it has been successful.

26th minute – Germany tries offensively, but lacks the final punch. First a cross from Huth is blocked, then Bühl gets stuck on the last chain.

23rd minute – France, of course, comes from outside. Le Sommer brings the ball back into the middle, but Bacha doesn’t know how to play the ball and ends up getting it on her thigh. Lucky, because the German defense wasn’t allocated properly.

21st minute – The game calms down a bit now. Both teams are more stable defensively, but therefore have difficulty getting dangerously in front of the opponent’s goal.

18th minute – Now it goes back and forth. Bühl looks for one-on-one on the left and prevails. But Peyraud-Magning clears her shot for a corner. It doesn’t bring in anything.

17th minute – France comes from outside again. De Almeida advances to the baseline and brings the ball high into the middle. Le Sommer heads the ball towards the goal, but Frohms grabs it.

15th minute – Suddenly it becomes dangerous. The ball lands at Linder via Oberdorf, who brings the ball high into the middle. The banana cross flies towards the goal, where Peyraud-Magnin lets the ball slip through his fingers. The ball still sails past and is cleared for a corner. Popp heads the high cross past the goal.
