Germany’s handball players celebrated a perfect start to the main round of the World Cup with a win against Romania.
The team of national coach Markus Gaugisch won on Thursday (December 7th, 2023) in Herning thanks to a significant improvement after the break with 24:22 (9:12) and therefore still has the best chance of reaching the quarter-finals.
The best throwers for the DHB selection, which was still unbeaten in the tournament, were Antje Döll and Annika Lott with four goals each. Goalkeeper Katharina Filter became the guarantee of victory with numerous saves in the second half. The German team’s next main round opponent is Serbia on Saturday. The second phase of the tournament ends next Monday against co-hosts Denmark.
