After the 34:29 (15:17) win against Buxtehuder SV, Dortmund remain in third place in the table Handball-Women’s Bundesliga. Furthermore, after six games they only have two minus points on their account. HSG Blomberg-Lippe remains the front runner, with no loss of points.
Buxtehude with a strong first half
BVB took the lead 1-0 after three minutes through Alicia Langer. After that, an even game developed for the time being. Buxtehude, without a win so far this season, held up well in the first half and caused problems for the guests. Nevertheless, the hosts were always at least one goal behind for a quarter of an hour. But then the tide turned: Jolina Huhnstuck and Teresa von Prittwitz gave Buxtehude the lead for the first time with 9:8.
Suddenly the Black and Yellows chased after the deficit and Buxtehude continued to play freely. Anika Hampel’s goal to make it 17:15 gave Buxtehude a two-goal lead at halftime. BVB urgently needed to improve their performance in the second half.
BVB improves after the break
And this came – albeit only after around eight minutes in the second round. But Dortmund had not let Buxtehude go away beforehand and equalized with two goals from Langer and national player Alina Grijseels. But that wasn’t enough: a series of several goals in a row allowed Dortmund to dream of victory with a four-goal lead.
Buxtehude tried to find an answer and hit back with two goals from Isabelle Dölle – the hosts were almost back in the game. But now the quality of BVB became apparent, as they slowly but steadily increased their lead again. Grijseels and Langer in particular suddenly left their mark on the game. Around seven minutes before the end, the preliminary decision had been made with a five-goal lead.
