The Eintracht Frankfurt footballers were threatened with a small embarrassment in Eindhoven. In the final minutes, the Hessians broke through the hosts’ defense.
Eintracht Frankfurt Women won their first leg of the round of 16 in the European Cup 2-1. At PSV Eindhoven, the hosts took the lead through Lore Jacobs (21st minute), but two late goals from Laura Freigang (85th) and Remina Chiba (90th) turned the game in favor of the Hessian footballers.
Eintracht initially appeared far too harmless offensively. A counterattack was enough for the low-lying PSV to take the lead. Only after the break did the SGE increase the number of hits, grit their teeth for a long time and ultimately rewarded themselves. The second leg will be played next Thursday (6.30 p.m.) in the Brentanobad stadium.
