Alexander Zverev is reaching for his first Grand Slam title for the third time in his career on Sunday. Tennis legend Andre Agassi warns the German in the run-up to the final and says: If the Hamburger wins the title, the hard work is just beginning.

The former American world-class player Andre Agassi clearly warned Alexander Zverev in the run-up to the French Open final not to make any changes to his game if he was successful.

The third in the world rankings had to show him the willingness to want to improve his own game. “That’s the one thing that frustrates me a little bit,” said Agassi in his analysis on the “TNT” microphone.

Agassi: Zverev is “very stubborn”

“I’ve seen Sascha for a few years now and it’s like he’s very stubborn about his game because he thinks he’s good enough to beat these guys,” said Agassi, referring to Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz and also Novak Djokovic.

“These guys aren’t all here. Him [Zverev] but has to make sure his game is good enough to beat them too. I believe he can do it. But if he wants to be in this neighborhood, he has to work on the things that will make him a better player. It doesn’t matter whether he wins this tournament or not,” said the American Zverev.

The big danger that Agassi sees if Zverev wins a tournament: “That it remains the same type of tennis. But he has much more potential than he shows us.”

For years, Zverev has been repeatedly accused of being too passive on the court. An assessment that Agassi obviously also shares. At the French Open, the German could at least appease his critics by finally getting rid of perhaps the biggest flaw in his career and winning the first Grand Slam title of his career.
