In the camp of the EM co-favorites from Sweden, three quick corona tests were positive. Team doctor Houman Ebrahimi told Swedish journalists that two players and one member of staff had tested positive for an antigen.
They showed very mild symptoms of illness. The cases have not yet been confirmed. PCR tests should now bring clarity. Only when the suspected cases have been confirmed should it be announced which players are involved.
Sweden beat Portugal 5-0 (3-0) on Sunday evening. As a result, the Scandinavians advanced to the quarter-finals as leaders in Group C. There they meet the second-placed team from Group D, either Iceland, Belgium or Italy, in Leigh on Friday. So far, the Swedes have been spared corona worries – unlike the German team, the Netherlands and Austria.
