Defending champions VfL Wolfsburg will face SGS Essen in the semi-finals of the Women’s DFB Cup. Bayern Munich plays against Eintracht Frankfurt.
This was the result of the draw on Tuesday (March 5th, 2024) by ex-national player Lena Lotzen. The games will take place on March 30th and 31st. The final will be played on May 9th in Cologne. “The route is now clear,” said VfL coach Tommy Stroot on Sky.
The encounter against Essen is a new edition of the 2020 final, which Wolfsburg won 4-2 on penalties. Wolfsburg recently met Bayern three times in a row in the semi-finals – and prevailed three times (2:0, 3:1, 5:0). This time the Munich team is spared the favorites.
Clear victories for the favorites in the quarterfinals
Wolfsburg qualified for the semi-finals with a 3-0 win at TSG Hoffenheim on Tuesday; it was the series winner’s 48th win in a row in the cup competition.
FC Bayern won against second division club Carl Zeiss Jena 3-0, Essen against Bayer Leverkusen 2-1 and Eintracht against MSV Duisburg 4-1.
