The danger of relegation for Turbine Potsdam is increasing. At the start of the eleventh matchday in the women’s Bundesliga, coach Sven Weigang’s team lost 0:3 (0:2) at Eintracht Frankfurt on Friday evening and conceded their tenth defeat in a row in front of 2584 spectators in the Brentano-Bad stadium.
Potsdam goes into the early winter break with just one point as bottom of the table in the women’s Bundesliga. On February 5, Turbine welcomes FC Bayern Munich at the end of the first half of the season. The superior women from Frankfurt needed half an hour to break through the Potsdam defense.
After a quick combination down the right side, Tanja Pawollek (31st minute) got the ball and gave Anna Wellmann no chance in the Potsdam goal with a spirited low shot from 17 meters.
The 2-0 just before the half-time whistle after a sharp cross from ex-Potsdam player Lara Prasnikar (42nd) was well deserved. Turbine hardly had any dangerous offensive actions in the first 45 minutes, but showed great morale in defense.
The most beautiful goal of the evening went to Frankfurt’s Sara Doorsoun-Khajeh (49th), who volleyed the ball under the bar from 15 meters.
Lucky Turbines were lucky six minutes later when Prasnikar hit the post of the empty goal. In view of the oppressive superiority of the hosts, the defeat for Potsdam was reasonably bearable.
