Taylor, 35, was preferred by two of the three judges. The match was intense and took place in an electrifying atmosphere: up to the fifth round Serrano seemed to have the upper hand, with Taylor forced to be medicated for blood. The Irishman, gold medal at the London 2012 Games, however, was able to recover, also thanks to a more effective footwork. For the Irishman it is the twenty-first victory in 21 matches: he thus retains his four belts, holding the Wba since 2017, the Ibf since 2018 and those of Wbc and Wbo since 2019. For Serrano it is the second defeat in his career, compared to 422 wins and one draw: the previous one was in 2012.
