With the third win in a row, the German curling women kept their good chances of reaching the semi-finals at the European Championships in Östersund, Sweden. On Wednesday, the team of the German Curling Association (DCV) with Skip Daniela Jentsch (Füssen) beat Switzerland 10:7 and is now fighting in the final group game against Denmark in the evening for a place in the last four.
With a record of 5:3 victories, the DCV team is tied for third place with Turkey and Italy going into the last preliminary round match. Switzerland and Denmark are already safely qualified, only the top four advance.
The German men need to win the remaining two group games to still have a chance of reaching the semifinals. In the afternoon the Czech Republic is waiting, on Thursday it’s finally against Switzerland.
The team around Skip Sixten Totzek (Rastatt) slipped down to sixth place (3:4) on Tuesday due to two defeats. Italy, Scotland and Switzerland are already safely qualified for the semi-finals.
