Woman who was in the house for three days makes it ‘reasonable under the circumstances’

Under the circumstances, things are going reasonably well with the woman who was removed by the police from the house in Southeast Drenthe earlier this week, after she lay there on the ground for three days. The woman’s son reports that.

The woman could not come to the door herself. And despite her cries for help, no one heard her. Police have not disclosed where the accident took place. It is also no longer possible for the police to find out how the police eventually received a report, a spokesperson said. “There will be a health report for the ambulance. But ambulance personnel cannot just enter a home. Then we are called up for support.”

In its reporting, the police calls for “regularly looking after each other”. The woman’s son wonders what the definition of that is. “As neighbors, are you going to check each other every part of the day?”

The son reports that he has regular contact with his mother. The son lives a few hours away from her, but visits her weekly. “So we stay overnight. We are never there just one day.” She also lives in a neighborhood where the neighbors look after each other and visit regularly. “But how often does someone look at the neighbors. That really doesn’t happen every day. The question is whether you want that.”

Due to a combination of circumstances it could now happen that the woman was helpless in the house for three days. “Normally I always call on Monday evening, but now something came in between. I wanted to call Tuesday evening, but I was already called by the police that day about the situation.”

The son says he is especially sad about reactions on social media. “Some statements touch us deeply and make us sad. Social media should not be used to anonymously and unabashedly express your opinion in a painful way to those involved without knowing the background of the message.”

If she is allowed to leave the hospital, she will go to a care hotel near her son. “This can happen to anyone, of all ages.” He points out that you can have an alarm button on the kitchen table, but if you fall somewhere else in the house, it is of little use. “Everyone is alone for several days sometimes.” The son says it is a traumatic experience for both him and his mother.
