The 32-year-old woman from Hoogeveen who is detained for a stabbing incident in a restaurant in Westerbork is suspected of attempted murder. That became apparent today during the first short public session.
The woman and her lawyer did not appear at that preliminary hearing. The Public Prosecution Service (OM) accuses the woman of stabbing a 34-year-old local resident with a knife in his chest on April 17.
The woman has allegedly threatened the victim with a knife before. Police say the two knew each other. The stabbing happened around 7 p.m. The woman was arrested shortly after the incident and has been in custody ever since.
The substantive hearing of the case is in October. The judge ruled that the woman will remain in her cell for the next three months.
