The victim who died yesterday due to violence in a flat on the WFHermansstraat in Haarlem-Noord, is a 79-year-old woman. That’s what the police report.
The identity of the suspect who was arrested yesterday is also known. It concerns a 47-year-old man from Haarlem. He is being held for questioning and is only allowed to have contact with his lawyer.
The woman was found in a home around 9.30 am by officers after they were alerted about a possible stabbing. She was already seriously injured by then. Rescuers tried to resuscitate her, but to no avail.
Relationship unclear
It is not yet clear what the relationship between the perpetrator and the victim was. The Haarlem Dagblad reported yesterday that in the apartment house a couple lives with an adult son. However, the police declined to comment on this.
