Shame

Images circulated on Twitter of the woman just before she ran into the studio. In it she says that she has worked at Channel One for years. “I made Kremlin propaganda. I am very ashamed of that now.”

She continues: “I am ashamed that I allowed these lies on television. I’m ashamed that I zombified the Russian people. The whole world is turning against us and our descendants cannot wash away the shame of this war.”

TASS reports that the young woman faces charges for “discrediting the Russian armed forces.” Russia’s parliament recently passed tough laws that risk up to 15 years in prison for those who spread “false information” about the military.

The video of the incident has been widely shared on social media. Many Internet users praise the woman’s “extraordinary courage.”
