A 57-year-old woman from Coevorden has been sentenced to sixty hours of community service for theft at her work. The woman worked at a chocolate shop in her hometown at the beginning of 2022. During that period she stole amounts of money from the cash register.
Her boss filed a report in April. He always discovered a cash difference when the woman had worked that day. He looked at the camera images and saw how the employee kept taking money from the cash register and putting it in her pocket.
The woman did not appear in court. “It is quite something that you appropriate money during your work,” said the police judge in Assen.
The boss confronted his employee with the images. The woman immediately confessed. She needed the money to make ends meet, she said.
She always stole amounts between ten and fifty euros. She had taken about 160 euros, she admitted. The woman was then summarily dismissed.
The sentence the judge imposed on her is equal to the demand of the Public Prosecution Service.
