Woman finds 8 speeding tickets on the bus, a total of 600 euros

The section control on the road between Westkerke and Oudenburg has been active since January 13, at the initiative of the Flemish government. The fines are collected by the federal police, and there are quite a few of them. In the first weeks, up to 1,000 per week, but that has dropped considerably in the meantime. It was a bit of a shock for the drivers, who often received more than one fine. There is a sign for camera surveillance, but not for trajectory control. Charlotte Nayaert is not happy with the way things are going.

Charlotte Nayaert: “It particularly bothers me that I didn’t get a second chance. Eight fines in the mail right away. If you get one, you can say that you have exaggerated, and you can adjust your driving style. But all letters are sent on January 20. We had passed a few days in the meantime, so you have to accept that. It concerns minor violations, a little over the limit, but they do cost a lot of money. 63 euros per fine, one a little more, so all together about 600 euros. OK, you can say, you have learned your lesson. I paid them all properly, as it should be, but it could have been done differently.”
