Tragic incident at a concert by pop star Robbie Williams (49, “Angels”)! At the former Take That singer’s Sydney show, a woman fell so badly that she had to be put into an induced coma.
According to Australian media reports, the accident happened towards the end of Thursday’s concert at Allianz Stadium. The woman, who was sitting in one of the stands, tried to climb over several rows of seats instead of taking the stairs. This led to the serious fall.
The woman, “in her 70s,” suffered serious facial and head injuries when she fell. According to a spokesman for the emergency services, she was taken to a nearby hospital.
The injured woman was cared for immediately
The organizer was deeply affected by the accident, telling Sky News: “This is a terribly sad incident and our thoughts and wishes are with the visitor and her family. The woman was immediately attended to by venue staff and a nearby guest who is a qualified healthcare professional.”
Shortly afterwards, paramedics arrived and the victim was taken to hospital. Venues NSW also said it was working with police to investigate the incident.
Robbie Williams is currently on tour in Australia as part of his “XXV” tour (to mark his 25th solo anniversary). He had a special surprise in store for the 38,000 fans in Sydney on Thursday: He performed the eighties hit “You’re The Voice” by Australian singer John Farnham (74), who only beat cancer this year.
Before Christmas, Williams will play more concerts in Australia (including Melbourne and Adelaide) before concluding his tour for this year with two shows in Schladming, Austria (December 7th/8th).
