A police spokesperson reported this to American media. The incident took place off the coast of Stuart. The sailfish, the species that has a long spear-shaped mouth like swordfish, weighed more than 45 kilos, according to the authorities. That didn’t stop Katherine Perkins and her friends from catching the animal, though.
As the animal was pulled up, the fish stabbed Perkins’s groin with its mouth as she stood on the boat. The sailfish was quickly released by the boat passengers. The heavily bleeding Perkins has been taken to the hospital.
