The accident happened about 1.30pm. The woman wanted to cross the road with her scooter near Aldi department store. She had stopped near the zebra crossing. The driver of a car stopped to let her cross the road. But a driver of a van coming from the other direction did not see that and hit the woman on the scooter.
The victim, a 26-year-old woman from Herentals, died on the spot from her injuries.
