A 21-year-old woman from Breda was abducted by four men last October. One of the men is her ex Nawfal H. (22) from Bilthoven in Utrecht. He took her with his brother and two friends in his car. Her phone was taken away and she had to transfer 900 euros. A prison sentence was demanded against all suspects on Thursday.
It is already late that evening of October 1, 2024 as a crying young woman at Utrecht Central Station to an employee of the NS Rent. She has a bump on her cheek and places in her neck. She says she was abducted from her house in Breda by her ex and three others.
She was in the trunk of the car and after fifteen minutes she was taken out, the victim told the police. She has to remove certain photos from her phone from her ex and she has to pay 900 euros. If she doesn’t, he lets her house explode, he threatens.
The victim has to get back in the car and sit in the back seat between two men. They drive to the Tolbrug in Breda to pin money. The woman does not have her debit card with her and that is why she has to transfer money to an account on the spot. She is afraid so she does.
“She had to pay money because she had damaged my car.”
In the court, Nawfal tells that it did not happen that way. Yes, she had to pay money and hand in her phone, but there was no struck. She was also not in the trunk, but the whole ride in the back. “I just wanted her to stop stalking. She didn’t leave me alone,” he says. “And she had to pay money because she had previously damaged my car.”
Zacharia H. (20) from Bilthoven and Nadir H. (20) from Utrecht were also in the car in particular. They say they didn’t get much of what happened. “I didn’t talk to her, but I did get it that it wasn’t such a positive atmosphere. There was a shouting back and forth,” says Nadir.
The day after the kidnapping the men just go to school. In a Snapchat conversation they still say to each other: “You had to hit her harder” and “this is just the beginning, we’re going to empty her completely.”
“Trust in others, especially in men, is damaged.”
During the session, photos of the victim are shown with a bump on her cheek and places in her neck, but according to Nawfal it is not so bad. However, the victim’s lawyer says that the woman is anxious and can no longer sleep well: “Trust in others, especially in men, is damaged.”
It is clear to the public prosecutor that all men are involved in the kidnapping. Two years in prison is demanded against the brothers Nawfal and Zacharia with deduction of custody and a contact ban with the other suspects.
The officer mentions that Nawfal is on the Topx list. That is a list of young perpetrators of crimes with a high impact. Zechariah was still in a probationary period during the kidnapping due to an earlier serious abuse.
A year in prison is demanded against Nadir, six months of which are conditional and a probationary period of two years. On Thursday morning, a prison sentence of 62 days was demanded behind closed doors against the fourth minor suspect, of which 40 hours are conditional and a 100 -hour work sentence.
The judge will rule in two weeks.
