Wolverhampton again relinquish Gonçalo Guedes to Benfica

Wolverhampton Wanderers left winger Gonçalo Guedes has joined Benfica on a one-season loan. The Portuguese had already contested the second half of the previous season with the “Adlers”, but had meanwhile been out due to a knee injury. The 26-year-old’s contract with the “Wolves”, where he is one of the five most expensive additions in the club’s history, is still dated until 2026.

“After the tough injury phase that Gonçalo went through last year, it’s important for him to go out and play as many minutes as possible. In an environment that he knows well, at a club that knows him well – he’s done a lot of his rehab at Benfica so it’s a move that makes sense,” said Wolverhampton’s sporting director Matt Hobbs.
