Nick Woltemade celebrated a brilliant debut in the Premier League at Newcastle United. The German international scored his first goal in the English championship in the 29th minute and at the same time the goal to 1-0 (1-0) for the Magpies against the Wolverhampton Wanderers. For Newcastle it was the first win in the fourth season game and a perfect dress rehearsal for the Champions League start on Thursday against FC Barcelona.

After his header, the 23-year-old ran towards the home fans and slipped on his knees to the corner flag. In the 65th minute it was over: William Osula came to the field for Woltemade. “He trained well and we are very satisfied with his appearance in the first few days,” explained coach Eddie Howe before the game.

“It was a big debut – couldn’t have been better,” said the attacker to the British broadcaster “Sky Sports”. “We won, I met, we were good. It was very important that we won.” After his goal, he didn’t know what to do, reported Woltemade. “I was just happy.”

Trainer Howe praises Woltemade

Woltemade has a great being and a great character, coach Eddie Howe had praised before the kick -off. Afterwards Howe said: “He is very good at the end, very cleverly. He can also score a lot of goals with his head. We needed this victory.”

At the end of August, Woltemade changed from VfB Stuttgart to Newcastle for a transfer fee of initially 75 million euros. There he signed a contract until 2031.
