Kira Wittmann had no chance of reaching the final in the triple jump at the World Championships in Athletics (Friday, 7:35 p.m. / ZDF and Eurosport). The 23-year-old jumped 13.64 m in Budapest and was eliminated as 26th in the qualification.
Wittmann was almost half a meter short of taking part in the decision of the best twelve jumpers. Most recently, Kristin Gierisch was a German triple jumper in a World Cup final in London in 2017.
The top favorite, on the other hand, didn’t have much trouble: Olympic champion, world record holder and series world champion Yulimar Rojas (Venezuela) secured her final ticket in her first attempt (14.59).
