Witt Group appoints Tobias Nieber to management

Moving chairs in the management of the Witt Group.

Tobias Nieber will strengthen the management of the Otto subsidiary in the future, the Witt Group announced on Monday. Nieber, previously Chief Operating Office of the Mytoys Group, will take up his new role on February 1st.

Nieber’s appointment comes as part of preparations for the departure of long-time CFO and Chief Operating Officer Jürgen Angstmann. He will retire at the end of June after more than 30 years as part of the group.

“As managing director, Jürgen Angstmann has played a key role in shaping the transformation of the Witt Group for 14 years,” said CEO Patrick Boos on behalf of the entire management team. We are saying goodbye to a very valued management colleague as he retires and wish him all the best from the bottom of our hearts.” The group’s management will then consist of Managing Director Patrick Boos, Stefanie Zühlke-Schmidt (Purchasing), Johann Kiener (Brand & Digital Commerce) and Tobias Nieber.

A new member comes from our own ranks

Nieber is no stranger to the Witt Group parent company Otto. He has been working in various management positions in the Otto Group Holding and in various Otto Group companies since 1998.

From 2011 to mid-2013, he held the position of CFO/COO at Mirapodo in Berlin, where he was responsible for IT, fulfillment and finance. In the years 2013 to 2020, he played a crucial role as CFO of Otto Group Russia, particularly in the successful transformation and restructuring of the company, according to the release. From 2019 he also contributed to the integration of Otto Group Russia into the Bonprix Group. Since mid-2020, Tobias Nieber has been CFO of the Mytoys Group in Berlin, responsible for finance, logistics and human resources.

“I am very pleased that we have found a perfect successor for Jürgen Angstmann within the group in Tobias Nieber,” said Marcus Ackermann, Group Board Member for Multichannel Distance Selling and Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Witt Group. “He already has many years of experience in the Otto Group and is broadly positioned. Tobias Nieber will use his know-how to actively drive the transformation of the Witt Group.”
