After twenty years, the Taliban again impose the full veil on women

The veil is no longer enough

So they will have to air after the last order of the Taliban. The supreme leader of the Islamic group has indeed reintroduced the burqa. And if until a month ago the scarf covering the hair was enough, now women have to cover themselves completely to show themselves in public, including television.

But the protagonists of the main television broadcasters Afghans challenged the regime. And on the first day this law came into effect, they protested by broadcasting with their faces uncovered.

Without burqa, without work

«We tried to oppose the use of the full veil»Declared a presenter of TOLOnews, Sonia Niazi. “But the broadcaster immediately said that any presenter who did not have their face completely covered she would be moved to another job“.

The great fear of women, however justified given the facts, is that the Taliban will not stop there, but that “the next thing that will be decided will be to ban them from working“.

Mohammad Sadeq Akif Mohajir, spokesman for the Ministry for Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice, denied that the Taliban authorities want to force the presenters to leave their jobs. But she said, however: “We are happy that the channels have correctly exercised their responsibility.” A statement that says it all.

The return of the full veil

After twenty years that the burqa was no longer usedIn a decree a few days ago, the supreme leader of the Taliban, Hibatullah Akhundzada, ordered women to wear the burqa again in public.

But not only. Because in the decree it is also written women who do not have important duties to perform would be better off “staying at home”.
