A few high-flyers can be highlighted here, who raked in gold, platinum or even diamond awards with their singles. “Traum” was the first single from Cro’s second studio album MELODIE. The song was released on May 9th, 2014 and was produced by Shuko and Freedo. Cro (real name Carlo Waibel) went on a desperate search for his imaginary dream woman in “Traum” – for which he was awarded double platinum. With more than 600,000 units sold, “Traum” is Waibel’s biggest single hit to date.
Moderator legend Frank Elstner leads through a coupling show in the video. The two candidates (played by Francois Goeske) try the heart of the actress (Agnes Lindstrom-Bolmgren) to conquer. Unfortunately, the attendees bicker, causing the dates to go haywire and causing Cro to be struck by a falling lamp.
Waibel’s second studio album MELODIE went gold with over 100,000 singles sold. Other singles released were “Bad Chick”, “Hey Girl”, “Melody”, “Now” and “Meine Gang”. Although all the songs were able to place themselves in the charts, no track came close to the success of “Traum”.
More Achievements
With RAOP (2012), MELODIE (2014) and the two successors TRU (2017) and TRIP (2021), Waibel was able to achieve four number 1 albums. However, by the time the article was published, only the first two albums RAOP (fivefold) and MELODIE (triple) went gold. Most recently, Cro was particularly successful with the single “Blessed” (2021) and the feature guest Capital Bra. The song landed at number two on the charts.
