With new license partner Medico: Tamaris expands clothing range

The Detmold-based shoe group Wortmann Gruppe has awarded the textile license for its most important brand Tamaris to Medico Sports Fashion GmbH. The new partnership begins with the spring-summer 2023 season, the company announced on Thursday. In addition, the textile producer from Quakenbrück, which belongs to JCK Holding, is also taking over the Tamaris brand rights for textile accessories such as caps, hats and scarves, explained Wortmann. In this category, the cooperation already begins with the upcoming autumn-winter 2022 season.

Tamaris had taken its first steps in the clothing segment in the past two years together with the Otto Group. After the textile license has been reassigned, the group will remain “sub-licensee for its own sales channels” in the future, according to a statement.

The aim of the cooperation with the “new and experienced license partner” Medico is to further develop Tamaris “at all levels into a lifestyle brand”, explained the parent company. “The new fashion collection presents the Tamaris brand holistically and offers women the right head-to-toe look for every moment”. For Tamaris, the expansion of the clothing range is an “important milestone in developing the perception of a shoe brand into a lifestyle brand”.

The label’s first swimwear and underwear collection, developed together with Medico, should also contribute to this. This should also come onto the market for the spring-summer 2023 season. The new license partner will control the creation, development, production and sales for these lifestyle categories on the basis of brand-related specifications, explained the Wortmann Group.
