With new contract Kenneth Taylor, Ajax prevents talent from being picked up for ‘a little price’ | Dutch football

Kenneth Taylor (20) is about to extend his contract with Ajax until mid-2027. In this way, the national champion prevents a ‘new financial setback’ and the left-footed midfielder gets his chance to realize his dream: breaking through at Ajax.

Taylor’s extended stay was not a foregone conclusion. Due to a summer clause in his contract, the dynamic playmaker could be picked up at Ajax for a ‘little price’ this summer. As in the case of transfer-free Brian Brobbey, Noussair Mazraoui and André Onana, the club thus threatened to lose another potential gold mine for far too little.

The technical duo Gerry Hamstra and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar put a stop to that. The latter reported to Taylor at the end of last season, who finished the season strong and as a basic player. At the end of last year, attempts by former director Marc Overmars to extend with Taylor failed. The left leg turned down a rental period in the winter.

One of the clubs that Ajax hoped to rob from Taylor was Club Brugge. That is what Alfred Schreuder, the trainer who switched from the Belgian to the Dutch champion, also told Taylor during conversations. The new trainer also presented him with his desired perspective on playing time and on conquering Ryan Gravenberch who left for Bayern Munich.

Ajax intended to insure itself for the scribbles of Owen Wijndal and Taylor before the training camp in Austria. The left back, who comes from AZ, made his scribble earlier this week. In Taylor’s case, this is not long in coming after the verbal agreement between the club and the youth exponent.
