The capital is back in festival fever. After three long years of waiting, Lollapalooza returns to Berlin and makes a brilliant new start.
Since 2018, the area in and around the Olympic Stadium in the west of the city has established itself as a location and offers an impressive backdrop for the lovingly designed festival. While electro acts are in the stadium, the infield awaits with national and international artists of the highest quality. The youngsters are prepared for later visits to the festival in the separate Kidzapalooza.
Diversity on all stages
Nobody can complain about a lack of women at Lollapalooza, because a look at the line up shows that diversity is valued here. The likeable Austrian Esther Graf opens the festival, the visitors experience the breathtaking performance of the Irish singer Lyra or nod to the veritable rap of Babyjoy. Charlottte Jane also delivers consistently on the MainStage.
The highlights of the day are indisputably the performances of Iann Dior, Apache 207 (still the same) and Machine Gun Kelly. The latter is traveling with his fiancé Megan Fox, who is making the fans ecstatic and crying even before the concert begins. When Machine Gun Kelly rocked the stage with his exceptionally beautiful band, there was no stopping the Lollapalooza. Light-footed and with enviable coolness, MGK, who starts his gig with a spliff, rocks in front of a pink stage set including a helicopter and serves his fans with hits like “Papercuts”.
The headliners AnnenMayKantereit and Kraftklub close the first day of the festival.
Sustainability determines the appearance
The topic of sustainability is obviously close to the heart of the organizer, in addition to enough waste bins and information boards for correct waste separation, there is also the “Green Kiez” where young and old can find out about environmental issues. The gastronomic offer is varied and, as is typical for the capital, vegans and vegetarians also get their money’s worth here. The prices are high, but everything is freshly prepared.
