Today we review Kokoroko’s debut album COULD WE BE MORE, Agajon’s NAG CHAMPA and Jennifer Vanilla’s new record, CASTLE IN THE SKY.
Kokoroko’s debut album COULD WE BE MORE fulfills all the hopes one could have: All 15 songs on the album have great African polyrhythms, great soul vocals, gospel and of course lots of funk!
Agajon’s debut album NAG CHAMPA can easily be described as German neo-soul with cosmopolitan ambitions. Unfortunately, the record sometimes has something of a very tasteful stream of lo-fi beats, who drones competently and harmlessly through the background.
Jennifer Vanilla is the project byby Becca Kauffman and co-producer Brian Abelson, which debuted three years ago. The new record CASTLE IN THE SKY is a bewildering mix of retro flashes, dance-pop synth tones and saxophone solos.
