Gerard Joling and Gordon both deny it – in fact all parties involved – but the rumor continues to circulate. How much money could you use to convince those two?
Money can buy everything, including a comeback by Gerard Joling and Gordon as a TV duo. The programs they made together were popular with many people. Gordon may act like a dragon in the media, but he has a quick sense of humor that appeals to many people. And Gerard is of course the ultimate laughing bag for him.
Seven tons
After all the ugly things Gordon has said, there is little chance that Talpa will still want to work with him, so any follow-up to their program ‘Joling & Gordon over the floor’ would have to be at the initiative of Geer’s boss RTL. In other words: the relatively conflict-avoidant Peter van der Vorst must feel something about it.
If he wants Geer & Goor – and that is still the question – how much money should Peter put on the table? “I estimate it to be six or seven thousand euros if they both did it. And then both do the same thing, otherwise they will get into an argument about it again before they have even started,” says Private Boss Evert Santegoeds in the podcast Strictly Private.
Salary
As RTL, you really have to ensure that there is no confusion during salary negotiations, says Evert. “So that has to be done very carefully. Maybe it’s even more. If they both pretend they don’t want to, you can of course increase the amount quite a bit.”
For the time being, the chance seems small, especially because RTL previously canceled a controversial project by Gerard – something about foreigners. “I have mixed feelings about it,” says Rinie van den Elzen, the program’s former voice-over, in The Telegraph.
Woke movement
Rinie thinks it is difficult to get Geer & Goor to make TV the old-fashioned way again. “We live in a suffocating society, in which people are quick to step on their toes. Look at the woke movement.”
It is that Goor left Talpa with dissatisfaction, because in his opinion SBS 6 would have been a better option as Peter Gillis’ home base. “They have more of an image that anything can be said, look at Today Inside. A program like Geer & Goor fits in perfectly with this.”
