Paul Stanley canceled a live reunion with founding members Peter Criss and Ace Frehley in an interview with Howard Stern on . At the induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2014, the band was asked if they could play with the original line-up until 1980, which Stanley declined at the time. “That would have been demeaning and confused some people,” Stanley recalled. Apparently Stanley, who is the only active Kiss founding member besides Gene Simmons, thinks that the old ex-colleagues aren’t up to it anymore. “Because if you see people on stage who look like Kiss but then sound bad, we’d better be called PISS.”
Eric Singer and Tommy Thayer have been an integral part of the group for the first time in 1991 and have been since 2004 and 2002 respectively, after the two founding members were replaced on drums and guitar. “This is the band that held the flag high and took us to a whole new level. This is the band I always dreamed of,” said the singer and lead guitarist of the line-up over the past 20 years.
The rock group will go on their final tour in the summer, 50 years after it was founded in 1973. Under the motto “End Of The Road”, the band will be coming to Munich on June 17th, to Dresden on June 21st, and to Dresden on June 22nd Berlin, on July 1st to Mannheim and on July 2nd to Cologne. The tickets and other tour stops are available here.
