The runway at Airport Oostwold has been completely renovated. The old track of grass stones and concrete pavement has been replaced by a paved track with an asphalt layer.
The airport is now open all year round.
The use of the airport has changed in recent years. Oostwold Airport transformed from an agricultural aviation field with mainly a lot of heavy air traffic to a general airport with more, and especially lighter traffic. During the winter months, Oostwold was often less or poorly accessible for aircraft due to the runway condition.
The new runway pavement had been on the wish list of owner Tom van der Meulen of Oostwold airport for a long time. From Saturday 25 March, air traffic will be welcome again and the renovated Oostwold Airport will be officially opened.
