The community of German hat shops eV (GDH) elected a new, voluntary management team at its online general meeting on January 17, 2022. Five of the seven members are new – including the first chairwoman, Angela Breiter, who is the first woman to lead the German hat industry.
The 30-year-old is the granddaughter of the long-standing chairman/honorary chairman Adalbert Breiter and daughter of the long-standing assessor Marion Breiter. Together with her brother Alexander, she is the fifth generation to run the three businesses of the family company Hut-Breiter, which was founded in 1863 and has its headquarters in Munich.
Breiter is supported by the second chairman Siegfried Seidl von Hut Mayer from Neuötting, who brings a lot of experience with him through his eight years of service on the GDH board, and the five-member board advisory board.
In addition to Annette Wahl, who has already been active as deputy chairperson for two electoral terms, it consists of Alexander Ehrhard from Hut Striebich in Mainz, Sabine Falkenhagen from Gebr. Hut Falkenhagen in Hamburg, Niko Paraschos from the Hut boutique in Arnsberg-Neheim, and Helena Ruth Scarpone from Hutsalon Ruth Stoll in Bad Säckingen and Annette Wahl from Hut Nagel in Karlsruhe.
Angela Breiter replaces Andreas Voigtländer, who managed the fortunes of the GDH for 24 years. The now 63-year-old owner of Hut Mühlenbeck in Wiesbaden was elected honorary chairman at the general meeting. He will continue to support the association with his expertise and, as a passionate supporter of statistics, oversee the industry surveys of the GDH.
