Last night the police raided a farmhouse on the Callantsogervaart in Callantsoog with a great show of force. The villages on the coast were startled by a police helicopter. Someone was also arrested, but the police now say that the person is innocent.
A police helicopter, officers with bulletproof vests, a dog handler and undercover officers: everything was pulled out last night during a police raid in Callantsoog. A man was ordered through a megaphone to come out with his hands up, a witness saw, after which the police were able to search the farmhouse.
It is not known why the police raided with such a show of force. A police spokesperson this morning said it was ‘a police action in the context of an ongoing investigation’. She later indicated that there was a suspicion that the person in question had committed a criminal offense, but it later turned out that this was not the case. The investigation therefore stops now.
Forbidden weapon
The police did not want to tell NH Nieuws which criminal offense it involved. It Noordhollands Dagblad reports that it was a suspicion of the presence of a prohibited weapon. ‘The resident cooperated with the investigation. According to the spokesperson, there was no question of a prohibited weapon or any actions with it.’
