We didn’t really experience any winter scenes in Zoetermeer in December, but that could change in January. According to Jaco van Wezel, meteorologist at WeerOnline.nlthe chance of cold temperatures increases considerably.
“The new year starts with mild temperatures and lots of rain, but in the second week of January the chance of colder weather increases significantly. There will also be more space for the sun,” says Jaco.
Risk of frost
According to Jaco, it is still uncertain how cold it will be: “In January it is normally about six degrees during the day and slightly above zero at night. From next week, mild air will probably no longer reach our country, causing temperatures to drop. The calculations of the weather models vary from normal temperatures to well below. This significantly increases the risk of night-time frost in Zoetermeer.”
Second half of January
There is great uncertainty in the weather models for the second half of January. That is why, according to Jaco, there is little meaningful to say about the second half of this month. Winter could continue, but there is also a chance that temperatures will rise again.
