Zhangjiakou (dpa) – The Swiss biathlon relay team had to give up at the Olympic Winter Games in Beijing because of circulatory problems in the start runner Irene Cadurisch.
The 30-year-old did not arrive in the transition zone. TV pictures showed how she was being treated medically. Swiss-Ski announced that Cadurisch’s condition was stable. She is said to have had circulatory problems.
Before Cadurisch left, there had already been a similar incident at the games. At the end of the pursuit race, Norway’s Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold collapsed. The Norwegian federation then decided not to let the 25-year-old compete on the Zhangjiakou circuit. Thus, Tandrevold was also missing in the season.
