DTM IMOLA: RACE-1

With 28 GT3 class cars on the starting grid, the first sprint race in Imola developed without any particular contacts or accidents, with a challenge on the edge of tenths of a second in particular for the top positions. On the podium is Audi double, with Rast in the car number 33 (Team Abt) and Müller (teammate of Valentino Rossi in the GT World Challenge Europe, endurance races) second at 3 ” 8 on the Rosberg team car, who maintain the start positions. Third Bortolotti on the Lamborghini of Grt, second in the drivers’ standings, who conquers important points considering the eighth final place of the leader Sheldon Van Der Linde (Bmw M4, Schubert) at the end of the race. Bortolotti, Lamborghini Squadra Corse official driver, had closed qualifying with 6th place, but had suffered a penalty (10 squares) for an error in communicating the set of tires foreseen for the race. Nonetheless, the 1990-born driver managed to recover 13 positions, and maintained the first position for a long time, even “risking” with a strategy of the race opposite to the main contenders, based on the postponement of the pit stop (which took place 16 minutes from the end) to take full advantage of the set of fresh tires in the finish. Back in 8th place, Bortolotti recovered other positions in the last 15 minutes (the overtaking of the Porsche 911 number 24, two laps from the checkered flag, earned him the lowest step of the podium).
