Winning RKC is ready and can look at next season

The 2021-2022 season is over for RKC Waalwijk. RKC closed the last competition match with a nice 1-3 win over AZ and thus ends in a respectable tenth place. Now the Waalwijk club can enjoy a holiday and look forward to next season. The big question is which selection trainer Joseph Oosting will have in front of him.

Who has an ongoing contract?
Seventeen players are currently on hold until at least the summer of 2023. That’s quite a lot, but many of these players have not turned out to be a base customer this season. Captain Melle Meulensteen and goalkeeper Etienne Vaessen have a contract until 2024. Top scorer Michiel Kramer, Said Bakari and Shawn Adewoye are fixed until 2023. The same applies to Ahmed Touba. RKC expects that he will be in the interest of a number of clubs this summer.

Joel Pereira, Ilias Bel Hassani, Lars Nieuwpoort, Lennerd Daneels, Luuk Wouters, Yassin Oukili, David Min, Sebbe Augustijns, Thierry Lutonda, Dario van den Buijs and Roy Kuijpers are also still fixed.

Which contracts have been cancelled?
On April 1, clubs are obliged to cancel expiring contracts. However, this does not mean definitively that the players will leave. At a later stage, club and player can still discuss a new contract. The contracts of Hans Mulder, Vurnon Anita and Juriën Gaari have been terminated. It will be announced later whether the club is still in talks with these players.

The contracts of Mark Spenkelink, Issam El Maach, Finn Stokkers and Richard van der Venne also expire. The latter two were recently mentioned at Go Ahead Eagles.

Who’s leaving anyway?
Alexander Büttner has played his last RKC match. He leaves for De Graafschap. In addition, there are mercenaries who return to their clubs. Taste maker Jens Odgaard returns to Sassuolo. The expectations are that there will be sufficient interest in the Norwegian. Aymen Azhil returns to Bayer Leverkusen and Feyenoord mercenary Achraf El Bouchataoui also leaves Waalwijk.
