Window shopping in the Metaverse: MCM launches virtual store

MCM can soon also be visited in the Metaverse.

The Munich luxury fashion house will have a store in the hyperreal world of Caliverse, a metaverse platform from the South Korean Lotte Data Communication Company, MCM announced on Tuesday.

Caliverse’s Metaverse concept, presented at the CES consumer electronics trade fair in January, is intended to replicate the real world and thus also enable a stroll through virtual shopping streets. The SS24 collection will primarily be on display in the MCM store and, with the market launch of the digital concept, will be available on devices with internet access such as laptops, 3D televisions or smartphones in the first half of 2024.

“We are excited to combine MCM’s iconic designs with Caliverse’s hyper-realistic visualizations, giving consumers innovative ways to experience and interact with the brand,” said MCM President Sabine Brunner. “The upcoming launch of the virtual store is a crucial milestone in MCM’s strategic development into an intelligent luxury brand, where ‘M’ stands for Metaverse. This groundbreaking partnership strengthens MCM’s DNA as a leader in luxury fashion, enhancing the customer experience and setting a new standard for the industry.”
