Last year, director Leos Carax opened the Cannes Film Festival with his music film “Annette” and also won the award for Best Director. What starts as a romantic love story turns into a kind of “horrifying” as the film progresses.
The film initially focuses on an unlikely couple played by Adam Driver and Marion Cotillard: standup comedian Henry and celebrated opera singer Ann, the woman he loves who in turn falls for this impossible-to-be-on-stage guy Has. The love between the two seems great, but shortly after the birth of their daughter Annette, it becomes clear that their happiness will not last.
Annette is an oddball that has arms and legs like a jointed doll and a papier-mâché head and looks more like a wooden doll. Henry can’t stand his wife continuing to celebrate on stage while he’s babysitting at home. Here you can see the trailer for the film:
There are only a few spoken sentences in this film, and the dialogues are mostly in musical form. The music and lyrics for “Annette” come from the heads of the US band Sparks, consisting of Ron and Russell Mael.
For the home cinema launch of “Annette” as DVD, Blu-ray, 4K UHD and Mediabook on April 22, 2022, there are two Mediabooks (Blu-ray + 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray) to win. Simply fill out the form and enter “Annette” as the answer. The closing date for entries is May 15, 2022. Legal recourse is final.
