No Mother’s Day gift yet? How about a musical visit? Even with “Romeo & Juliet – Love is everything” nothing works without mom!
Julia was sick last week. Normally it means: show cancellation. Not so with Lisa-Marie Sumner, who actually plays Julia’s mother, Lady Capulet. She learned both the lyrics and the songs in two hours – and saved the show!
The creative team led by Peter Plate and Ulf Leo Sommer (including “Ku’damm 56”) has been successfully bringing Romeo & Julia to the stage on Kantstrasse since March. For the reinterpretation of William Shakespeare’s tragedy, they have written many new songs about the most powerful feeling in the world, based around the Rosenstolz classic “Love is Everything”.
This song by Peter Plate and Ulf Leo Sommer has a special role in the new production: With the haunting lines “You only have one more day/Just one night then/Let it be love” it is predestined to be the title song and motto for the biggest love drama at all. What better way to sum up the story of Romeo & Juliet than with these three words?
