Win: “The Piano” on Blu-ray

With “The Piano” in 1993, director Jane Campion created a timeless film classic. The story of the mute Ada (Holly Hunter) has received many awards, including the Palme d’Or in Cannes. In addition, “The Piano” won three Oscars. One for Best Original Screenplay and one each for the main and supporting actresses Holly Hunter and Anna Paquin.

The plot of “The Piano”

The Piano tells the story of mute Scottish woman Ada McGrath (Holly Hunter), who is dropped off on a beach in New Zealand with her young daughter to enter into an arranged marriage with New Zealand frontier worker Alistair Stewart (Sam Neill). Ada hasn’t spoken a word since she was six. Instead, she expresses herself through her piano playing and sign language, for which her daughter acts as an interpreter. But her husband Stewart sells the piano to the neighbor Baines (Harvey Keitel). Baines then makes Ada the offer that she can buy back the instrument through physical donations.
