Real’s Modric misses a penalty
Ali Maâloul (65′) converted a penalty kick to make it 2-1 for the underdog from Cairo with former Bundesliga coach Marcel Koller. Madrid’s Luka Modric (87′), on the other hand, failed in the closing stages from the penalty spot to Al Ahly goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy.
In the final on Saturday (8 p.m.), the royal team will face Al-Hilal with former world champion Toni Kroos and national player Antonio Rüdiger. The team from Saudi Arabia surprisingly defeated Flamengo Rio de Janeiro in the semifinals.
