Tennis legend Roger Federer has won what is probably the most important tournament in the world at Wimbledon eight times. But apparently that’s not enough to get to the area of the famous London tennis club without any problems.
Recently he was there for the first time outside of the tournament, the Swiss told the US “Daily Show”. However, he did not inform anyone in advance because it was initially unclear whether he would even have time.
Wimbledon security did not recognize Federer
When he arrived, he asked a security officer for the right entrance – but the woman obviously didn’t recognize him and turned him away.
In order to come in, he had to be a member, she had told him several times. Despite his assurances that he would automatically be a member if he won the tournament, she wouldn’t let him through without presenting an ID card.
Eventually, however, Federer got onto the site. He then drove to the other side – and was immediately recognized and let in. The 41-year-old former world number one ended his great career three months ago.
