When he arrived, he asked a security officer for the right entrance – but the woman obviously didn’t recognize him and turned him away.

In order to come in, he had to be a member, she had told him several times. Despite his assurances that he would automatically be a member if he won the tournament, she wouldn’t let him through without presenting an ID card.

Eventually, however, Federer got onto the site. He then drove to the other side – and was immediately recognized and let in. The 41-year-old former world number one ended his great career three months ago.
