The Romanian champion of 2019 clearly overtook Anisimova, while the Kazakh woman beat Tomljanovic
The second semifinal of the Wimbledon women’s singles will be between Simona Halep and Elena Rybakina. And it also continues what for the organizers and the British government would be, if not a nightmare, something frankly embarrassing for them, given that the 23-year-old Rybakina plays with the flag of Kazakhstan, but everyone knows that she is Russian, born in Moscow. and until a few years ago (2018) represented the nation commanded by Vladimir Putin. Considering that the Russians and Belarusians have been banned from Wimbledon due to a political decision (and not a sporting one, given that the ATP and WTA have not granted points for this reason), the fact that she can win the tournament is something that most likely worries a little.
For the passport, however, all in order, she is Kazakh and never a player or player from that country had gone as far as the semifinals of a slam. Rybakina, seeded number 17, did so by beating after a good battle and Ajla Tomljanovic comeback with a score of 4-6 6-2 6-3. For the Australian, perhaps a wasted opportunity to reach the semifinal of a slam, in a match that was not impossible to win.
Halep goes fast

For Rybakina the next opponent will almost certainly be more difficult, the former Wimbledon champion Simona Halep, who has wiped out much more clearly than expected the American Amanda Anisimova, seeded number 20 of the tournament. Score of 6-2 6-4 in a sort of no match, where the Romanian controlled the situation far and wide, proving once again that probably the real favorite of the tournament is her, perhaps even more than Ons.
