Wimbledon fines Kyrgios and Tsitsipas for unsportsmanlike conduct

Nick Kyrgios and Stefanos Tsitsipas have been fined by the Wimbledon tournament management. The Australian and Greek have to pay 4000 dollars (3840 euros) and 10,000 dollars (9590 euros) respectively for unsportsmanlike behavior.

Kyrgios and Tsitsipas faced each other on Saturday in the third round of the grand slam tournament in London. Kyrgios asked the referee to punish Tsitsipas for hitting a ball in the stands. Tsitsipas, in turn, received a warning after trying to hit Kyrgios a few times.

Tsitsipas accused his opponent of “bullying behavior” at the press conference afterwards, which was laughed off by the Australian. Kyrgios won the match 6-7 (2) 6-4 6-3 7-6 (7) and thus qualified for the eighth finals, in which he plays against American Brandon Nakashima.
